After processing and digesting all the input and feelings Move Fest brought me, I feel the urge to just write a huge digital hug! I’m truly grateful for all the effort you put into Tribes and the Move Fest as a big cherry on top of it all! Loved the vibes at Scheltema and the workshops of Saskia and Livia brought me a lot! And let's not forget it made me sooo happy and energised seeing and feeling Fanny shine in her workshop! The closing ceremony was a warm and loving ending of it all. Already looking forward to next year! ❤️

FAQ
Who is MoveFest for?
The MoveFest is a celebration for movement lovers, it is open to people of all ages and backgrounds with or without previous experience. It is an open invitation to explore new ways of movement & embodiment and the ultimate opportunity to connect with like-minded movement lovers.
Is MoveFest only for advanced movers?
No. MoveFest is for curious movers, not for a specific “level.”
Some people come with years of experience, others are newer — what matters most is openness and willingness to explore. Teachers offer options, and you’re always invited to listen to your body and choose what feels right.
Do I need experience in a specific movement style?
No. You don’t need to “fit” a style to belong here.
MoveFest brings together different movement approaches, and practices are designed to be accessible across backgrounds. You’re welcome whether you come from yoga, dance, somatics, sports, or simply curiosity.
What kind of atmosphere can I expect?
The atmosphere is warm, focused, and human.
MoveFest isn’t competitive or performance-oriented — it’s a space for exploration, learning, and connection. People come to move, to listen, to rest, and to be part of something shared, without pressure to prove anything.
Can I come alone?
Yes — many people do.
MoveFest is welcoming to those who come on their own, and connection often happens naturally through shared experiences. There’s no obligation to socialise, and no expectation to be outgoing.
How is safety and care held during the festival?
Care, consent, and choice are central to MoveFest.
Teachers invite participation rather than demand it, and you’re always encouraged to adapt, pause, or opt out. You’re responsible for your own boundaries, and those boundaries are respected.
Is there time to rest or take breaks?
Yes. You can structure your day to allow space between practices, and you’re always free to take breaks when you need them.
Rest is considered part of the experience — whether that means sitting out a session, taking a walk, or simply pausing. You’re invited to follow your own rhythm rather than trying to do everything.
What if I have an injury or physical limitation?
You’re welcome to adapt, modify, or skip movements at any time.
Teachers offer options and encourage listening to your own body, but you remain responsible for your own boundaries. MoveFest isn’t about pushing through — it’s about exploring movement with care and awareness.
Can I leave and come back during the day?
Yes. You’re free to leave the venue and return throughout the day.
Many people step out for fresh air, food, or a quiet moment, and come back when it feels right.
Where is Leiden, and is it easy to reach?
Leiden is a small, beautiful, historic city in the Netherlands, easily reachable by train from Amsterdam, The Hague, and Schiphol Airport. It’s calm, walkable, and easy to navigate — even if it’s your first time visiting.
Where is the festival held?
The main MoveFest event (saturday & sunday) takes place at Scheltema,
Marktsteeg 1, 2312 CS, Leiden.
The closest train station is Leiden Central Station, about a 10-minute walk through the historic city centre. Along the way, you’ll find plenty of cafés, shops, and restaurants — all easily accessible on foot.
The venue also has an outdoor garden, where food and drinks will be available and where participants can step outside to rest, connect, or take a break between practices.
Pre-fest Immersives take place at our main Tribes studios: Doezastraat 2A, 2311 HB Leiden and/or Floris Versterlaan 61, 2316 DZ Leiden
Both locations are in Leiden and about a 15-minute walk from the main station.
In which language are the Practices & Immersives taught?
Practices & Immersives are taught in English.
Teachers are used to working with international groups and keep their language clear and accessible. You don’t need perfect English — understanding the essence is more than enough.
How many practices are happening at the same time?
Every 2 hours there are up to 3 practices starting at the same time. All practices last 1,5 hours.
How do I choose which practices to attend?
You don’t have to optimise your schedule.
You’re invited to choose practices that spark curiosity, and to leave space for rest and integration. It’s okay to change your mind, follow your energy, or let the experience unfold rather than planning everything in advance.
Do I need to book each session separately once I have purchased a pass?
Booking is mandatory for both the pre-fest and the fest. By booking, you reserve your mat or spot. Make sure to check availability before purchasing your pass.
What’s the difference between festival passes and Immersive tickets (PreFest & PostFest)?
Festival passes give you access to the main MoveFest practices on Saturday and/or Sunday.
The Immersives of the PreFest & PostFest are longer-format or more focused experiences, usually offered separately before the main festival. They allow for deeper exploration and have limited spots. These are not included in the festival pass and need to be booked separately.
Should I bring my yoga mat?
Mats are included in the pass, if you want to practice on your own mat you can place your own mat on top of one of ours.
Will there be Food & Drinks available?
Yes! The Scheltema staff will be there to serve you drinks and we have an amazing veggie/vegan chef cooking in the kitchen of the Ketelhuis.
Are there group discounts available?
Yes, organize your group. Minimum 10 participants. Ask us for a coupon discount once you have your group ready. 10-15 participants: 15% Off / 20 participants: 20% Off / 25 participants: 25% Off
Do you offer refunds?
All passes are Non Refundable, but transferable to another person. Refunds will not apply for late arrivals, early termination of attendance or no-shows.
