DansBlok dancers Éryn Nieuwint and Tessa Wouters will host a workshop on contact improvisation and partnering technique.
We will explore the possibilities of partnerwork through concepts of pulling & pushing, grips, sharing weight, center point, balancing and lifting. We encourage a playful approach to partnering and provide a warm and safe environment for exploration. We will build trust by explaining different ways of getting into contact in the warming up and build up throughout the workshop from smaller to bigger lifts with one or multiple partners. Join us to gain smart technical partnering skills to perform impressive looking lifts based on sharing momentum, instead of using pure strength.
About the teachers:
Éryn and Tessa are part of the artistic team of Leiden based collective DansBlok. DansBlok consists of 4 female dancers/makers who collectively create dance performances and dance films. Their work is a reaction to conflicts that the makers experience in our current society. The DansBlok movement language is expressive and physical with a certain clarity that follows a narritve. They explore themes like dealing with paradoxal expectations, longing for freedom and the need for true connection. Since 2020 DansBlok created full evening theatre performances (OVER & OVER, BALLEN LOS) and shorter works (PLASTISCH, FRAME, SPIERGEHEUGEN). Their dancefilms (FLOW, CENTER POINT, REVELATION, PLASTISCH, ZWEET) were displayed all over the world and won international prizes.
