An AcroYoga Workshop with John Karvelis

Have you ever wondered what it feels like to defy gravity, balance on your hands, or lift someone in mid-air? This AcroYoga workshop will unlock the fun and empowering world of inversions training, handstands, and partner work. Led by John Karvelis, a senior teacher of AcroYoga International organization, this workshop is an invitation to explore new movement possibilities, build trust, and develop playful connections with others.

Whether you’re looking to deepen your practice or discover AcroYoga for the first time, this session is designed to help you explore your limits, challenge your body, and experience the thrill of working with others in creative ways. No prior experience or partner is necessary—just bring a playful spirit and your willingness to explore while having fun in the very supportive environment of the group.

This workshop is perfect for Performers, dancers, yoga teachers or anyone curious about movement and looking for a fresh, playful challenge.

The workshop is divided into two parts, each designed to build your skills progressively and safely:

Part 1: Foundations & Inversions Training

We’ll begin by focusing on the essential building blocks of inversions and handstands. This part will help you feel confident in your ability to balance and move with control, whether on your own or with a partner.
We will explore:

- Effective warm-up techniques to prepare for inversions
- Dynamic flexibility drills to increase mobility and strength
- Key leg sequences and acrobatic vocabulary to enhance coordination
- Simple and safe ways to enter and exit handstands
- Balance and stability drills that lay the groundwork for partner acro

Part 2: Group Work & Inversions on Humans

Next, we’ll dive into the heart of AcroYoga—partner work! In this part of the workshop, we’ll apply the techniques from Part 1 to work with partners and groups, integrating inversions and acrobatic flows into fun, collaborative movements.

You’ll experience:
- Trust-building exercises to foster connection and support
- Spotting drills for safe and effective practice with partners
- AcroYoga calibrations and transitions to smooth the flow of movements
- Assisted inversions and balancing techniques for shared flights

What You’ll Take Away:

- Increased confidence in inversions, partner balancing, and acrobatic flows
- New tools for developing strength, flexibility, and body awareness
- Trust and communication skills for better collaboration with others
- A sense of playfulness and joy as you discover the art of flying together

Bring An open heart, a sense of curiosity, and a spirit ready to explore, fly, and connect!
