What if sound could help your students relax more deeply, connect more fully, and release what words and postures alone can’t reach?
In this experiential workshop, we’ll explore the science and art of using live sound and music in your yoga classes. You’ll discover how instruments like singing bowls, handpan, chimes, and your own voice can enhance both Yin and Yang practices.
We’ll guide you through:
✔️ How sound influences the nervous system (and why it matters)
✔️ Simple ways to use sound to support relaxation and release
✔️ The impact of different instruments like singing bowls, handpan, chimes, and voice
✨ Why bring sound into yoga?
Sound is more than a background playlist—it’s a direct path to the parasympathetic nervous system. Research shows sound can lower cortisol, regulate the vagus nerve, and support emotional release. By weaving sound intentionally into your classes, you give your students an even deeper container for healing, rest, and connection.
This workshop is perfect if you’re curious about sound healing, want to deepen your classes, or are looking for new tools to support your students' wellbeing.
You’ll leave not only with inspiration—but with practical tools to start using sound right away.
You’ll be guided by Joy—a 500+ hour RYT yoga teacher, sound therapist, and musician—and Eddie, a professional musician and movement & mobility specialist. Together, they bring a unique blend of expertise in sound, music, and the body.

Eddie van Dongen
Musician & Mobility Specialist
Eddie's journey intertwines the powerful language of drums with the mindful practice of movement. He honed his skills on the conservatory drum kit, but his curiosity led him to explore the ancient world of Indian music and its profound connection between vibrations and wellbeing. This exploration ignited a passion for the handpan, an instrument that perfectly complements his drumming style. Eddie's not just a musician; he's a movement and mobility specialist. A self-proclaimed "nerd" in both music and movement, he's constantly seeking ways to integrate them for optimal health. He understands the importance of moving in a way that feels good, not just to prevent injuries, but to cultivate a sense of joy and well-being. With his infectious drumming energy and captivating handpan melodies, Eddie creates a sonic landscape that enhances the movement experience. He believes that the vibrations of music, coupled with mindful movement, can unlock a deep state of relaxation and rejuvenation. Eddie's dedication to both music and movement makes him a valuable asset to any movement class. He's not just playing music; he's creating a transformative experience, guiding students towards a deeper connection with their bodies and minds.

Joy Rae
Embodied Yoga teacher & Singer
Joy’s journey into yoga began not on the mat, but on the dance floor. Years of dance training gave her a deep love for movement—but also brought physical challenges that pushed her to seek new ways of healing. Yoga opened the door to a gentler, more intuitive way to move, listen, and connect with her body.
As a professional singer and musician, Joy felt a natural pull to weave music into her practice. What started as adding a song evolved into something deeper: a fusion of movement, sound, and healing. She explored how vibration, tone, and music can calm the nervous system, open the heart, and guide people inward.
Today, Joy combines music, sound healing, and yoga into unique, transformative experiences. With over 1000 hours of yoga training, her classes aren’t just about stretching or strengthening—they’re an invitation to feel, to listen, and to remember the wisdom of the body.
Whether guiding a yoga class with live music or leading sound journeys, Joy’s work is rooted in the belief that sound is medicine, movement is healing, and together they create transformation.
