Every yoga pose carries a story. Hanumanasana, Virabhadrasana, Chakrasana: we practice these shapes, learn their Sanskrit names, and rarely stop to ask where they come from or what they mean. This practice invites you to find out.
Through Vinyasa flow interwoven with mantra and storytelling, Rebecca takes you into the pages of the Mahabharata and Ramayana: India's great sacred texts. You will hear the story of Virabhadra, the fierce warrior born from Shiva's dreadlock, while moving through the warrior poses. You will chant to Hanuman after learning how the monkey deity overcame fear through courage and devotion.
The ancient stories become alive in the body: their wisdom bridging thousands of years of tradition into something you can feel, practice, and carry into daily life.
In this practice you will explore:
• The mythology and origin behind familiar yoga poses
• Vinyasa flow guided by storytelling from the Mahabharata and Ramayana
• Mantra as a way of embodying the qualities of each deity
• Ancient wisdom made practical and relevant for modern practice
For who:
• Yoga practitioners curious about the stories behind the poses they practice
• Those drawn to mantra, devotion, and the deeper roots of yoga
• Open to all, no prior knowledge of Hindu mythology required
